Coming off the Top Rope!

I used to love wrestling. So much so that the Professional Rationalist and I used to jump off the top rope (steps or couch), use the figure four leg lock, and drop the leg on one another just like Hulk Hogan. I can still hear our mothers and grandmother telling us to sit down before someone breaks their neck. He was no match for me since I was older but the little rascal sure had heart. I was a WWF guy but still supported other federations. At school on Monday, the cool girls always knew who won the big matches from Saturday. They all wanted to be Ms. Elizabeth. Ric Flair is the reason that I dream of having all white hair. He had a sense of style and charisma that made us all go "WOOOOOOO" when we heard his theme music. Man those were the days. Wrestling is nothing like it used to be however. For example, I would never imitate the guys in this video. They are making a mockery of the sport of wrestling. Andre the Giant is rolling over in his grave. No one should ever dance in the ring. Someone needs to let Jake the Snakes' pet loose on these two fools.

The Super Bowl EVERYONE is Really Waiting For

Now that the Super Bowl is set, the nation can decide if it will become cheese heads or if they will be singing black and yellow. However, there won’t be much debate when it comes to Super Bowl Sunday’s real big game, The Puppy Bowl, where in my opinion, everyone wins. I always wanted a dog. As a kid, I noticed that many of the characters that I was enamored with on television had trustworthy dogs at their side. Asto, the Deputy Dog, Snoopy, Odie, and Scooby Doo all would have taken my childhood to another level. I would daydream about playing fetch with my dog, having him or her bring me the newspaper, wrestle with it in the snow, and sleep with it at my side. Then reality set in. I realized that I would have to walk it in inclement weather, pick up its shit, my full sized bed wasn’t going to be able to hold us both, and living in a row house in a city made having a cat much more realistic. While they may be a pain at times, the nation will collectively, “AWWWWW” as one puppy after another makes big plays in this year’s Puppy Bowl. The Black Mamba May have Met His Match

Kanye West once said that "George Bush doesn't care about black people." In the clip below, he doesn’t care about the Black Mamba aka, Kobe Bryant. West stars in a new commercial alongside Bruce Willis for Kobe Bryant's newest sneaker, The Black Mamba. Talk about an odd collection of stars. Kobe has had his issues with infidelity and trade rumors ), Kanye West has had countless issues because of his uncontrollable passion, and Willis lost the mother of his children to a man half his age. The storyline of this commercial will play out in a mini movie which is set to air during NBA Allstar weekend.

DATING: Who Done it?

CAUTION: My articles are generalized and not meant for any particular or specific situations. Taking my well thought out opinions personally may cause anger, sadness, loss of sleep, or bitterness. Results may vary!

I think it’s safe to assume that everyone has heard the phrase “Chivalry is dead” at least once in his or her lifetime. This clichéd has stirred up controversy among men and women. My opinion on the matter is that I agree, chivalry is, in fact, dead. There are a lot of men that are no longer chivalrous, and a lot of women cease to believe that it exists, at least amongst the common man. Even though I have come to the conclusion that chivalry doesn’t exist any more, I still have one question; Who is responsible for the “death” of chivalry? Men or Women? I believe it’s just a cycle between the actions of men and women’s response to these actions. Ask yourself this question: which came first, The Chicken or The Egg?

I’ll start with the women’s (Egg) role in killing chivalry. World-renowned comedian Dave Chappelle once said, “Chivalry is Dead…and women killed it!” I would not go as far as to place all the blame on women, but many played a large part. Today, it seems hard for nice guys to be appreciated by the opposite sex. When men are approach a woman politely, they are either accused of having ulterior motives (such as sex) or are looked upon as being weird, weak, or less manly. There have been times when us men have been involved with a young lady and she would rather be with her ex, whose disrespect and carelessness were the leading factors in their break-up. I always ask myself why would a woman put herself through such problems. I’ve come to the conclusion that women have grown accustomed to the behavior of some undeserving men and now find it, not only acceptable but, also, normal for men to no longer be chivalrous. The women settle for the men who are rude and unappreciative instead of those who will go above and beyond to treat them well. This leads us to the “chicken.”

Men (The Chicken) see that a large number of women are involving themselves with men who don’t deserve them. Their behavior can involve disrespect, infidelity, and as well as physical/emotional abuse. As a result, the good men may start to act as rude, if not more, than these other men. What some men do, which also adds to the brutal murder of chivalry, is “act” chivalrous with an ulterior motive, such as sex. Everyone has met those assholes men that treat women badly, yet somehow have one of the greatest, most respectable women by their side.

This article may seem somewhat repetitive, but that is because it is. The subject I’m speaking about is just a vicious cycle that has an unclear beginning and an unlikely ending. I laid out the facts. Now, I am leaving it to you to come up with your own conclusion. So you tell me, which came first, The Chicken or The Egg?

Until Next Time,

MOVIE OF THE WEEK: Beat Street

Graffiti. Family. Great music.Dancing. Drama. Death. Sounds like a hit doesn't it? The 1984 film Beat Street followed a group of young people as they live and breathe hip hop and all the elements that surround it. The movie provides an in depth look at the early stages of rap and makes you feel like you took a time machine back to the 80's. Be careful, you may find yourself writing rhymes and beat-boxing.
